Baby Feeding Items for Starting Solids

As a mom of two, I’ve explored many baby feeding products that have simplified mealtimes. In this post, I’m excited to share my favorite baby feeding items for starting solids and what I love about them!

When to Start Solids

Introducing solid foods to your baby is an exciting milestone, but it’s essential to wait until your little one is developmentally ready. Most pediatricians recommend starting solids around six months of age when babies typically show signs of readiness. These signs include:

  1. Head Control: Your baby should be able to hold their head steady and sit up with support.
  2. Loss of Tongue Thrust Reflex: Babies have a natural reflex that pushes food out of their mouths. When this reflex goes away, they are ready for solids.
  3. Interest in Food: If your baby starts showing curiosity about what you’re eating and tries to grab food, it may be a good time to start introducing solids.
  4. Ability to chew: Babies should have some chewing ability, even if they don’t have teeth yet. They can gum soft foods and move them around in their mouths.

Before starting solids, consult with your pediatrician to ensure your baby is physically and developmentally ready for this new stage.
